Latest works

I've been pretty busy but you wouldn't know it to look at this poor neglected blog (or perhaps you would, hrm).  At any rate, yes, I've picked up Delve!  issue 2 and have been working on that.  I have a kind of creative ADD so that work has bled into what will be Delve! issue three.  Right now, I'm going back through issue 2 and reading through it and tweaking a few things.  Most notably converting from the OSRIC/1e stats to Swords and Wizardry.  Not a huge change as they are largely cross compatible but there are some interesting differences (especially in perceived power levels between the two - S&W is much less "inflated" I guess).  However, much of the town of Dustchapel Downs has been keyed out in a sort of gazetteer fashion.  Keying in on some high points in broad strokes just to get a feel of the town, major players, organizations, etc.  There are a few new monsters, lots of legends/lore type stuff and hints at dark things.  Dustchapel Downs is a somewhat dark place but with a flair for the dramatic.  I guess it is somewhat of a fantasy/medieval New Orleans.

So, in writing Delve!  issue 2, lots of ideas come to the fore about further issues of Delve!  One of the references in Delve! issue 2 is to a book called the "Ivory Tome of Whispers, Secrets, and Lies" a grimoire of arcane beings that possess the keys to hidden knowledge.  Here's a picture of one of those beings that this has sparked in my mind - Osmothgun the Duke of the Darkside of the Moon.

More to follow on that.  In other news, I've started a Swords and Wizardry campaign with my kids.  It's cool to see how naturally they take to role playing.  They have really been quite taken with the whole thing.  Here's a picture of them at the game table:

I created an adhoc dungeon called Temple of the Bronze Boar for the kids.  They fared well against some giant rats and a pit trap in their first session.  I was pretty pleased.  So too was Bear who did this picture of the Bronze Boar:

Well, that's it for now.  I've got to get back to writing/drawing/designing/DMing.  Happy gaming everyone!
